Hello May....

..and hello May Flaum! Our Guest Designer for May...

It was such an honor to be asked to be a guest designer for my #1 source of fabulously chic and damask filled designs! I love all the lines from Teresa, especially because they can be used for so many things. The Chic Bebe Girl line is a perfect example. While I’ve done a few baby projects with it, I’m finding myself reaching for it whenever I need soft pink and black.
 
I’m feeling super floral and spring inspired lately, and today I’d like to share an idea I got from a purse of mine. The oval petals seemed like they’d be easy to re-create in paper form with a little tweaking. I’ve created three projects inspired by this today. 

First you need to make the petals. I used several sizes of oval punches for this, though you could draw and hand cut your own to suit your size needs too. Once cut you want to fold up one end (about 1/3 of the length) like a taco. Then fold the top bits down to create your petal.

 

  
Now it’s up to you if you want to layer different sizes, just do one layer, or anything else you’d like. I punched a circle of paper to mount the petals to before attaching to a envelope along with a scalloped border strip and baby decorative bit of paper to make the perfect baby shower (gift card) holder! 
 
  
For this wall hanging I used one of the board book covers and cut the bracket design into the fourth (previously straight) side. Then I added my flower, a bit of ribbon to hang it, photo (4 x 6) and other fun details. 
 
 
Finally I attached a flower to a little metal tub that will be great for an in-box, small items, or perhaps as a gift holder. With some rhinestones and a bit of crackle paint I quickly made myself a fun piece from a dollar buy at Target.

 
I found using dimensional foam dots or glue dots to be the most effective way to keep the petals in place without loosing dimension. For a layout or situation where you want flat petals simply smoosh them, or don’t do the fold in the first place.
 
 
May believes in no-rules crafting from the heart, and when she’s not making something in her studio you can find her enjoying life with her husband and two daughters in Northern California. She loves baking, reading novels, and loves how she can add sparkle and pretty details to her memories through scrapbooking.

Oh, Bebe!

Cheri is back with another amazing creation using Chic Bebe Boy.  She created a "Baby Shower Keepsake Album for the mom to be" to hold all of the memories and information from the Baby Shower day in one spot.

  
The mom to be takes a photo with each guest as they come in. Then each guest signs a page with their name & address and a note (like words of wisdom) for the mom to be.  
The hostess can just grab the book when presents are being opened and flip to the guest page and write what each guest brought.

There are sections for the baby shower invitation, photo's of the food, games, & envelopes to keep special cards and bits of the wrapping paper so she can look back years to come and see how they have changed over the years.

  
This is a great way for the "mom to be" to later write her thank you cards and preserve the special day.

This entire book was created and put into a small binder book that allow for additional photos, cards and memories can be added to as the sweet little Bebe grows.....

Mini's are Big

Thank you all for the GREAT comments, ideas and LOVE for TC Designs...it looks like you all are ready for more mini books so as promised, a brand new project today, which coincidently, is a mini book featuring the Mr. & Mrs. Collection, scraps of chipboard and book rings from the TC Chipboard books...

Here is what you need to create this simple MINI book that holds BIG memories...

Six 3" x 4"  pieces of chipboard

Seven  3" x 4" pieces of coordinating patterned papers

Five 3" x 4" photos

Two-Three Book Rings

Chipboard Embellishments

Simply Cover the "cover" and all of the back sides of each chipboard page with patterned paper.  Sand edges and ink.

Adhere photos to the front of each chipboard page and gently sand edges.

Add chipboard elements to each page.  In this case (picture below) the chipboard element "The Groom" was too large for the space, so it was trimmed to fit and looks just as great!

To create the cover, punch holes in all pages and connect book together.

Adhere a chipboard element and embellish with some BLING! then to add a really sweet touch, make a tiny rose to compliment the entire book...sometimes the Little Things make the biggest impression!

Inspired??? this can be done pretty quick and for ANY OCCASION..so go get to work and remember to share your work with us...you just never know when you might see your work on the next blog post!

A New Week...A New Giveaway

Camille has created something very special using the"Welcome Home" collection and we wanted to share and inspire you to do something similar... 

 "For this weeks project I redesigned a treasure book for my daughter.The original treasure book was made for my sister and I when we were children.  I still remember opening it at Christmas and my grandmother saying, "Oh The Secret Women, what a great book!" and then we opened it, and while we were elated at the secret compartment, my grandmother exclaimed, "Oh no!  What a waste!"  I guess my grandmother just didn't have many secrets.  

I redesigned the book using mostly Welcome Home papers and added a second shallow compartment at the back of the book. My daughter didn't see the book until this morning and she was elated.  I hope someday she will pass it on to her daughter.

Now, it has been a few weeks since we have given away anything, so how about a set of "Welcome Home" papers so that you could recreate this special book???

The Journey of a Baby...

Jamie is working on an album that is going to document the "Journey of a Baby" using theTravel Ledger line and I think you will agree that it is simply beautiful!

 

 


You can easily re-create these layouts with any of the 9 papers from Travel Ledger, a few favorite black and white photos and journaling...

Teresa Collins- Good Things Utah Segment

I am a big fan on documenting REAL life. However, in real life- there is so much that keeps us so busy that often it can be hard to find time to scrapbook and record the memories. Last week, the night before we were going to France, I created a book. I decided to show it on Good Things Utah today. It was using the new TC Travel Ledger collection. My book is now all ready to add photos.

The show was on location today. I went to Modern Display a store in downtown SLC.

I arrived early and set up my table-

The table was a little small but I tried to fit the Travel line across it-

 

I thought I would recap and maybe go into a bit more of what I shared. You can see the video on our website and this blog later today.

Steps to create a TRAVEL book (prior to your trip if you like!)

1. Cut all the Travel Ledger papers to the same size. 6" wide x 9.25" h is my book dimensions.
2. Cut two pieces of clear sheets for the front and back cover from HAMBLY sheets for extra strengthn as desired.

3. Place tags, pages, postcard tags, and transparency sheets and punch holes along left side.  Place on metal circle rings.  Add as many or as little as you like. Add ledger papers with lines for journaling and documenting your trip highlights.

4. Throughout journey STAPLE tickets, maps, diecut shapes to book as desired.

5. Journal each day of trip within pages of the book with black pen.

6. Take paperclips to secure brochures to book.

 7. Staple items to pages as desired. A great way to attach items from your journey to the book!!!

8. Corner round corners of page edges as desired.

9. Hang souvenirs from attraction to the top ring of book closure. Add items that remind you of your trip and sights.

10. Remember to add postcards for wonderful photos of your travels. An easy way to add eye catching photos to your project.

11. Journal each day of your trip so that you do not forget the little details and your travel itinerary. 

12. Once home, print photos and adhere in book as desired.

I picked up this photos yesterday and now will include them in my book. I get asked all the time what I teach for class workshops. THIS book will be a workshop that I am teaching. Yes, this exact project will be taught on the TERESA COLLINS ALASKA CRUISE that I will be doing in August. Well, this and FOUR other projects. 

I am enjoying the most beautiful SUNNY day- life is wonderful!!!!!
